"I was with another insurance company and came in to switch to State Farm with my husband. Kathy Chambers helped us out and it was a very easy and smooth process! "My wife was in an accident, two cars back stopped at a stoplight when a driver turned right going too fast and struck her. Did everything right, called the police and insurance agent. Upon speaking with Kathy, we asked the question on whether we should get a rental while ours was in the shop. Mind you, we don’t have rental insurance due to having a third vehicle we can drive, though wouldn’t be easy to meet the needs our SUV provides having a sports kid. The advice we were given by Kathy was the other insurance company would pay for a similar vehicle we lost while ours was being repaired. So, we got a similar vehicle to fill the need. After repairs were done 2-1/2 months later we returned the rental and paid the $4100 out of pocket. Kathy informed us the other insurance company was being difficult and needed to work to get their money for the repairs. When all was said and done, they did get the repair reimbursed but nothing for the rental, so $4100 on us for an accident we had no way to avoid. Mind you, we would not have gotten a rental if we knew it would be on our dime. The reason we asked was due to the fact we didn’t have rental insurance and could survive with what we had. It was the advice given that I feel was incorrect and it definitely cost us. The response when confronted was “if you had rental insurance it would have been covered “. I’m not one to place full blame on any decision, I made the decision. However the advice was incorrect. Any implication we would be liable for the expense and I wouldn’t have gotten the rental. So, to everyone, be wary. Gets expensive quickly if guided incorrectly in an accident."
